In our year 9 Mandarin class, we have been learning how to say each number from 1-20 in Mandarin.  We also learned the sign language for 1-10. When the number is going above 10, the numbers are just joined together. For example, 11 in Mandarin is  s hí y ī which is 10 and 1 joined together to make 11. And 20 is Èr s hí which is 2 and 0 joined together to make 20. 34 is Sān s hí s ì which is 30 and 4 joined together.   Mandarin 1 Yī  一 2 Èr 二 3 Sān 三 4 Sì 四 5 Wǔ 五 6 Liù 六 7 Qī 七 8 Bā 八 9 Jiǔ 九 10 Shí 十   Today we were taught how to say dates in Mandarin. 月 = yuè = month 日 = rì = day The date for today is 9月 5日

The choice card I made with Mishka. For the project, Mishka and I decided to make a choice card. We added split pins to the card, then attached wires to the split pins. We then connected a wire to a buzzer, a powerpack, and a battery. Whenever you put the left hook and the right hook on two choices that match, the buzzer goes off. If you get it wrong, nothing happens. Making the choice card gave us new experiences. For example, making circuit diagrams and wiring the choice card.

I've achieved my two goals from last week, so now I have to come up with new goals. My band is doing really well but we need to incorporate the piano into the song so Zara can play with us 1) Practise more with my band members so we can get the right key and speed 2) Make sure I'm playing it correctly by listening to the original song

Today I memorised the strumming pattern and the chord transitions.  We're working on our singing now.  I helped Julia with the chords and our band played the song together. Mishka's working on her timing (for singing) and Zara is learning her part on the piano. Nina has learnt her part on the drums and now she's working on her timing.  I learnt my part and now i'm helping them out.  I used  the two techniques I chose.

Today in music class we will be rehearsing for our group performances again.  1) I'll memorise the strumming pattern by writing them down as U, M, and D. (up, mute, and down) 2)  I'll work on my pitch by listening to the chords I play

Today in music class we learnt how to play different piano chords. We also played some chord progressions with some basic chords like Am, C, and G. We also learnt that a chord is multiple notes played at the same time. A major chord is more full than a minor chord, which makes dull sounds. My partner was Mishka and she learnt how to play the C chord. Today, I re-learnt how to play the Am, C, G, F, Em, and D chord. 

In music class we're learning how to draw a structural chart. We have to choose two songs that are completely different from each other, then we have to draw the chart for both of them. We chose American Idiot and River Flows in You. We also made a slide that contained all of the music periods we've learnt about.

Today in music class, we had to distinguish the differences between baroque and classical music.  DIFFERENCES: There was as a small difference in the instruments they used.  Baroque composers used counterpoint, which meant two or more independent lines of music were being played above or below a given melody. Classical music was more formal, while baroque music was very complex, highly tonal, and polyphonic. Classical music was more depressing.
